Neighbors 4 Neighbors: A History of Helping the Community

A nationally recognized nonprofit, created in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Our simple mission is to connect those in need with those who can help. Using a combination of resource development, collaboration with service providers and the power of media, we empower our neighbors to use the talents, time and money they have to help others.

Working in partnership with CBS4 and myTV33 News, Neighbors 4 Neighbors organizes a number of campaigns dealing with the issues that dominate local headlines. Research proves, year after year, that Neighbors 4 Neighbors is the most identifiable public service campaign in the Miami – Fort Lauderdale market. South Florida viewers know Neighbors 4 Neighbors, consider it important, and respond to it in a remarkable way.

In the last 12 months, Neighbors 4 Neighbors developed and delivered $1,251,014 in resources and donated goods to our neighbors in need.

Last year, $303,190 was donated in goods and services to our Adopt A Family 4 the Holidays Program alone!

On average donors spent over $600 per family, with 472 Families adopted, $283,200 was spent on families in need! Additional families were served with $13,290 in gift cards to Walmart and Publix.

The Vernon Carey Foundation treated 6 special families to a shopping spree at Broward Westfield Mall, each getting $400 to spend while shopping with local celebrities for a total of $2,400!

Hoffman’s Chocolates treated 8 families from the Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation and the Kids Cancer Foundation to an afternoon at their Chocolate Factory. Each child was treated to sweet treats, ice skating and gifts hand delivered by Santa himself for a total value of $2,000.

Actors Playhouse held a toy drive at their annual Christmas Carol Show, collecting over $1,000 in toys, that were given to the families at our partners, Connect Familias.

McMillian Middle School held a toy drive, collecting $1,300 in toys that were given to our partners at the Foster and Adoptive Parent Association.
